After viewing Bandura’s original video from his 1961 study above, complete the following for this discussion:
- Explain the basic concepts demonstrated in this study in regard to observational learning.
- Based on the video and your reading, do you believe that violence in television, media, or video games likely promote violent behaviors according to the principles of observational learning? Please share your thoughts and examples.
- Additionally, discuss your own real-life example of the concept of observational learning by sharing an incident either witnessed personally or through the media.
- Discuss how observational learning differs from theories of learning that emphasize “conditioning” (classical conditioning and operant conditioning). Use the example of how aggressive behavior may result from conditioning.

Word has gotten around that you know accounting and can explain it well. Jim, another of your friends has a unique business. During the summer he buys hats that cost $5.00 each and sells them at the beach for $12.00 each. Other than the cost of the hat, his only other expense last summer was $120 for parking. He sold 78 hats last summer. His accountant prepared a financial statement for him and he has several questions about the income statement. He asks:
- What does the cost of goods sold and gross profit mean?

Discuss how deviance plays a role in everyday life and apply the various theories in this chapter to your thoughts. Can deviance be good? Do social movements start out as deviant behavior and then develop into societal change? Try and use a current event to explain how a certain level of deviance in society can bring about change.
