LO 6.1 Identify Piaget’s six substages of sensorimotor reasoning and summarize criticism of this perspective on infant and early childhood cognitive development.

Chapter 6 introduces students to the development of object permanence during the sensorimotor period. Piaget contends that object permanence begins to develop around 8 months and is completed by 12 months. Critics argue that infants develop the ability earlier than Piaget believed because Piaget failed to take into account several factors. FORUM DESCRIPTION

Adults must learn how to acknowledge multiple perspectives on opinions and carefully evaluate them to choose their own. Beginning college students tend to display dualistic thinking. Discuss your own experience with dualistic thinking. Then, give an example of a time when you realized other people had a different perspective (values, behaviors, and beliefs) than you on a topic and you changed your thoughts about the topic after listening to others.  Explain what that process was like for you during and after the change.

Required APA Discussion Format (to be done for every discussion board unless stated otherwise):

1. You must include in-text APA citations IN your discussion (these are called in-text citations, see syllabus for examples).
2.
