Crime Scene Sketch and Photos

Overview

In this project, you will draw a sketch and also photograph a crime scene that you will create using three pieces of evidence. Taking specific evidence photographs and creating a sketch of a crime scene are fundamental steps in the investigation process. Not only are these photos and sketches important for police when investigating a crime, they are crucial documentation should the case go to court. Understanding and following the necessary steps in this process is a fundamental skill for criminal investigators. This project allows students to simulate a crime scene and practice documenting evidence through photographs and sketches.

Instructions

You have two options for submitting this assignment as a single file. The (10) required photos (9 of the crime scene + 1 of final sketch) can be pasted into either a MSWord document or PowerPoint format. Whichever format you choose to combine your photos, they must each be labeled and accurate according to the procedure steps and instructions.

1. Print out the list and assemble the supplies you need to complete this project.
2. Follow the procedure as outlined to document the scene.
3. Take a clear photo of your final sketch (with legend).
4. Shoot your 9 crime scene photos.
5. Combine your sketch and photos into one file, either a MSWord or PowerPoint format.
6. Name your file CRJ1027_M1_Project_lastnamefirstname
7. Submit to M1 Project Submission folder, as .doc, .docx or .ppt, .pptx files.
